Welcome to Marazion MayoShinDo Karate club. We are located at the hall at Marazion School, which is on School Lane just off the main road through the village. It is handy for Penzance, Crowlas and surrounding villages. We focus mainly on karate and self defence but also practice Ju-Judo. Students can gain valuable knowledge of our style and improve technique, fitness, confidence, and discipline among others. We are a friendly club and like all other MayoShinDo clubs it is run in a non-intimidating way. We welcome all newcomers regardless of sex, ability or age.
The club was started in 2002 by Clint Hosking, with training taking place at All Saints Church Hall. After about 12 months the club moved to its current venue at Marazion School. Clint left the club in 2011 due to work commitments and Denzil Searle took over the running. Denzil started training at the University of Warwick in 1988. He came back in 2001 after a long gap to train with Clive Double (now 7th Dan) in Sennen and is currently a 4th Dan Black Belt. Denzil is a design engineer by profession and is also an archery coach.
Learn the importance of self-defence, self-discipline, self-protection and social engagement.

Marazion Karate Club is based at Marazion Junior School Hall. The main hall where we train is approximately 15x10 meters and has a good flooring with underfloor heating.
Although the style of karate we teach is based on traditional chinese and japanese styles all our classes are taught in English. Children and adults, male and female are all treated equally and train together. Karate is our main focus however judo is also practised. Classes cost £3 per hour, a look at our class options can be seen below.
Mixed Karate ClassOur mixed karate class is open to adults and children, beginners and advanced levels. The goal of this class is to learn the fundimentals of karate as well as teaching them valuable life skills such as self-discipline, self-defence and respect for others whilst developing self confidence, balance and awareness. This class is a great introduction into karate and is open to students aged 6 and over.
Adult Karate ClassOur adult karate classes focus on the techniques, learning the mechanics of our strikes to gain an understanding of how they work and why we do them the way we do. Students will benefit from increased fitness, flexibility and confidence as they progress. Students will learn to improve focus and efficiency of their strikes, learning to generate the required force for the given situation. Suitable for students aged 14+
Some of the key benefits of learning karate include improved fitness, flexibility and co-ordination whist building communication skills, confidence and self esteem.
